Restorative Justice with Doug Noll, Lawyer to Peacemaker
In our Restorative Justice series, I will be speaking with Doug Noll, internationally renowned mediator, author, and speaker talk about restorative justice and how it is vastly different from the criminal justice system. What is it? How can it help you if you are a victim or a family member of a victim in a crime? We will also talk about Doug’s award-winning work, Prison of Peace.

Doug Noll is a lawyer turned peacemaker, specializing in difficult, complex, and intractable conflicts. He graduated from Dartmouth College, earned his law degree at University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law where he was a member of the law review, and earned his M.A. in Peacemaking and Conflict Studies from Fresno Pacific University.
He is an author of three books. The most recent is the award winning book Elusive Peace: How Modern Diplomatic Strategies Could Better Resolve World Conflicts. Doug is an international conflict and negotiation trainer and lecturer. As a lawyer, Doug is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been voted as one of the Best Lawyers in America since 2005, by bestlawyers.com. In February 2012, Doug was honored by California Lawyer Magazine as a California Attorney of the Year for pro bono service in his Prison of Peace project, co-founded with Laurel Kaufer.
Doug is also a second degree black belt in Chinese kung fu and has taught tai chi for over 10 years. He is a certified Pranic Healer. He has a variety of other interests and accomplishments including certification as a Level III ski instructor, instrument-rated private pilot with multi-engine and helicopter ratings, Irish fiddle and jazz violinist, whitewater kayaker and rafter, and steelhead fly fisherman.
